College freshmen quickly learn that lighting up in the dorms is ill advised, but you don't have to be 18 to know that the riverbank of the Clark Fork by the university is the best smoking spot in town. The relative seclusion and sound of water make this an excellent spot to avoid the watchful eye of the law. No guarantees when it comes to cops, of course, but you could make the case, awash as you are in white privilege, that even the possibility of a possession ticket is worth the risk. The way the light from the footbridge hits the water, the tree-laundered smell of fresh air, the fact that there's a munchie-dispensing Albertsons mere minutes away—why would you get high anywhere else?
