ALSO, BEST BAR FOOD

Oh, your best friends from back East are in town? You’re looking for somewhere to meet that better-than-average Tinder date? You’ll never go wrong at James Bar, especially if you’re eating. Don’t get us wrong, the Moscow Mules rival frosty cocktails anywhere, but oh my, the fries. Garlicked! Truffled! Those perfectly-salted fries arrive piled in a paper cone, and don’t neglect the mango ketchup and tartar sauce. If only the sweet potato tots didn’t make us second-guess. Lest you’re looking for something not deliciously oil-crisped, try the burger, any burger, though we’re partial to the tiny-yet-powerful Mini Stan: Montana beef topped with an over-easy quail egg, pepper cheese and a fried onion. So good. And don’t worry if you’re not into cow. The falafel plate produces similar exclamations. James Bar: 127 W Alder St • 721-8158 • jamesbarmontana.com
