Filmmaker Marshall Granger (Big White Moon Pictures) has written, directed and adapted for the screen raw stories that dig into uncomfortable life questions. In the feature Toad to Nowhere, he explores trust and friendship through a hallucinogenic lens with fellow filmmaker Andrew Rizzo, and with Me is Being Great, written by Emily Johnson, he captures the ambivalence that can lie at the heart of romance. Granger’s mastery of mood and atmosphere translates well into documentary work, particularly with his Montana Songwriter web series, in which he’s profiled artists including Joseph Running Crane and June West with dreamlike precision.
